real thinking
(prerequisite: 1–day Seminar - Preparing Learners
For Their Future Not Our Past)
Thinking is the foundation for learning. When students
understand the hierarchy of thinking and are provided
with the tools to think at a variety of levels, they
become empowered to stretch their learning. This workshop
develops the participants’ ability to design authentic
learning opportunities that incorporate higher order
thinking skills, latest brain research, multiple intelligences,
learning styles and student self-evaluation in an authentic
outcomes-based approach. By making thinking skills,
tools and
frameworks explicit to the learner, greater ownership
of the thinking process will evolve …learners
will learn how to think!
Outcomes
- develop further knowledge and understanding of thinking
skills, strategies, and tools, authentic learning process,
curriculum
and technology integration, curriculum planning and
implementation, and assessment and evaluation
- design and deliver outcomes-based, individual learning
opportunities, which reinforce the process of learning
and integrate multiple disciplines, higher level thinking,
ICT and brain-based research through the use of the
petite !nQuiry™ framework
- select individual and/or a sequence of organisers
which will strategically guide your learners to desired
outcomes; strategically frame organisers to meet a predetermined
level of depth and breadth (‘organiser literacy’)
- design rubrics for student use which are written in
‘kid speak’ and are realistic, observable,
measurable and specific (ROMS)
- develop further knowledge in the following areas:
Brain Basics, Memory and Mind Maps®, Multiple Intelligences,
and Learning Styles
